It is very beautiful in close-up and lovely when back lit.
Spotted whilst looking for blackberries at the weekend, the blackberries were sparse pickings, but the old mans beard looked very healthy.
Very cool! Clematis are just as beautiful in seed as they are in flower. :o)
This native clematis can be a nuisance here and abroad but I love the name Travellers Joy, and the seed heads are very pretty. 🙂
It does look lovely in the hedgerows. It is a pest in the garden. It seeds around everywhere in my garden. And if you don’ t notice it you have a huge rambling plant which is very difficult to dig out.
I’m with you Chloris, lovely in the hedgerows but definitely not one for any garden.
How intriguing. Some clematis turn into these wild and beautiful seedheads, and some don’t. this one is striking.
The flower of this wild clematis is smaller and understated compared to some of the big showy hybrids, its seed head is quite extravagant then gets shaggier and more unkempt before winter decay. I love seed heads almost more than showy flowers, this one is beautiful even though it can be rampant.
