That was taken at around 4.30p.m just before the sun dipped behind the abbey, its down to 15c today and overcast but more sun due all day Friday, I just hope there will be no harsh winter payback!
I will Susie, I’m not looking forward to the dark nights and winter temperatures. We have a lot of drizzly rain right now but its helping to settle in everything planted and moved yesterday, more sun due on Friday.
Hi Julie, that’s a great shot! The autumn leaves on that tree are spectacular. I’ve visited Woburn a couple of times, you’re lucky to be living close by. Loved your photo from the south west coast path too.
Thank you, its been a mixed bag here for Autumn colour, some stunners and a lot of green too but no complaints about the weather we have had this year.
Julie: I keep hearing that the blooms on these tulip trees are lovely. But I’ve never seen a single bloom. I love the leaf shape, and I’ve seen the trees in various places. But never blooms. Have you?
Hi Cynthia, I took some photos that day of the spent flower heads on this tree, I have read they flower May June time but regretfully cannot recall seeing them, I am going to make a point of looking for them next year as at Woburn they have three of these trees.
Wow! that’s really beautiful Julie. What an amazing colour…….and that blue sky – perfect!

Gorgeous. Amazing colors. Enjoy this time of year as much as you can.

Brilliant color and I love the blue sky background too 🙂 Judy
Today has gone from dry and overcast to drizzly to proper rain and back to drizzle, blue skies due back here on Friday though (I hope). 🙂
Great colours. After the grey drizzle today, that seems so wonderful.
The drizzle was a surprise, welcome though just for today as its watering some new plants in. Hoping for more sunshine this Autumn.
Your fall leaf shot is nearly perfect; I love the light that is coming through the leaves and the perspective is spot-on perfect.
Thank you very much Charlie, I am really glad you liked it. 🙂
Lovely autumn colour, it looks gorgeous against the blue sky.
I visited Woburn to see what Autumn leaf colour they had its mostly very green still but the 3 Liriodendron tulipferas were shining out with colour.
What a beautiful “Golden Shot”! ( Showing my age again!)
I remember the Golden Shot too! I heard temperatures reached 24c at Kew today, but the forecast for next week is getting cooler.
Such gorgeous color, perfect against the blue sky!
The light in October makes it much easier to photograph straight up through the trees, in the summer that would just burn out.

Great photo! Just perfect.
Thanks, I have so enjoyed the Autumn light this year.
