I’m delighted that you share my enthusiasm for lichens. Beautiful, a challenge to identify, fascinating lifestyle and a diversity of forms – what more do you need!
With this post I added a link to the “British Lichens” website, the name made me wonder if Lichens varied a great deal in other countries. Glad you like them too Donna.
Thanks Brian, I take lots of photos of Lichens, especially in the winter but I hadn’t realised so many people like them too. There’s so much to see and learn about, I wish there were more hours in the day!
Nitrogen! I had no idea. This is a weird and wonderful coincidence because I was -just- looking at a bunch of different lichens yesterday and I thought to myself: I don’t really know anything about these guys. Thanks so much. =)
I’ m likin’ the lichen too. Lovely photo.
Thanks, there is always something to see on a walk!
Stunning photo Julie – it’s almost extra terrestrial!
Thanks, I have a little eye glass, when you look through there at Lichens they really do look other worldly.
so do I! and they come in so many colours and forms that one can easily get addicted, beware!
I hope so Annette! 🙂
wünsche einen guten Tag, Klaus

In the winter months Lichens provide a great deal of joy, I wish I was better though at identifying them – I’ll just have to keep on practising!
Julie I adore lichen too and this is gorgeous. I have lots of lichen but not yellow…perfect for a spring day to see this yellow lichen.

Your photo shows that it is not only colourful flowers that make great pictures.

What a beautiful picture. To see the little separate entities is so interesting!
Thanks, I have a little hand held eye glass too which magnifies Lichens brilliantly, its a whole new world!

That site is really helpful in identifying, I am so glad it was useful to you. There is much to learn Debra and not enough daylight hours!!
Beautiful!
They are beautiful and so many forms to enjoy and try to identify too.
