About

Hello, I’m Julie (GardeningJules) working as happily organic gardener and live in Bedfordshire, with my husband and our labrador, Archie. Our two daughters have now both graduated from university and continue to teach me lots about life.

My wonderful 24 year old youngest daughter is an accomplished blogger and amongst other things is the author of the lovely Lottie’s Kitchen she has encouraged me to start my own blog about wildlife gardening, plants, gardens, photographs and the life we lead, so here it is.

At home we grow lots of vegetables, fruit and flowers, and alongside all wildlife is very welcome. Mostly is very harmonious. I am passionate about conservation too. I want to share the gardens and outdoor spaces we visit as well as the plants and nature that reach out and touch my soul.

I have taken photographs of plants for over 40 years, inspired as a child by the London Garden of my paternal Grandmother, who filled the borders with traditional Roses, Delphiniums and Dahlias and my unorthodox maternal Grandparents who owned a 100 acres of wilderness in Sussex. There was no formality there just lots and lots of wildlife, wild flowers, trees and a great place to spend school holidays.

My mum’s garden and allotments continued to inspire my love of gardening and photography and still do today.

All of the photographs on my blog have been taken by me, during visits to public and private gardens and to the wilder spaces in the great outdoors. And now, encouraged by my daughter to write a blog and share my photographs – there are only so many photos of flowers you can show your own family! I hope you enjoy my journey too.

    • Hi Hilary, we’d love to live nearer the coast or at least within an hour like you. We feel blessed by our girls and proud they are now forging a path of their own. Good luck with your writing, that sounds a fine way of life.
